10 Days | Pink Granite Coast | Coastal Walks | Breton Traditions | Medieval Towns
There is a wildness to Brittany that sets it apart from anywhere else in France.
Ancient footpaths follow a rugged coastline. Enormous rose-colored boulders tumble toward the sea. Fishing villages, medieval towns and bustling markets reveal traditions that remain very much a part of everyday life.
With only 5–7 guests, we’ll slow down, settle in and experience Brittany at a more personal pace.

Our journey begins in Rennes, where we’ll gather before traveling together to the Pink Granite Coast.
Our home for the next seven nights is the lovely Manoir des Petites Bretonnes, a collection of charming Breton cottages where we’ll have the rare luxury of unpacking our suitcases and settling in for the week.
After time to get comfortable, we’ll gather in the garden for a welcome apéritif and toast the adventure ahead before enjoying our first dinner together.

Today we head out to sea for one of Brittany’s most enchanting islands, Île de Bréhat.
Cars are largely absent here, making walking the perfect way to discover an island of tiny lanes, gardens, rocky coastline and extraordinary sea views.
With our local guide, we’ll spend the day exploring on foot, discovering some of the places and artisans that make Bréhat special, with time to wander, stop for photographs and enjoy lunch or a picnic along the way.

• Île de Bréhat
• Island Walk
• Local Artisans
• Gardens & Rocky Coastline
• Picnic or Lunch Along the Way

Today we lace up our walking shoes.
The Côte de Granit Rose is one of Brittany’s most extraordinary landscapes, where massive formations of pink granite meet a constantly changing sea.
We’ll spend much of the day walking along the coast around Grande Île and Trégastel, stopping for a picnic and allowing plenty of time to simply take in the landscape.
Later, we’ll turn from the sea toward another Breton tradition with a visit to a local cidrerie to learn about—and, of course, taste—Brittany’s beloved cider.

• Côte de Granit Rose
• Grande Île
• Trégastel
• Coastal Walk & Picnic
• Breton Cider Tasting

Today brings us to Tréguier, one of Brittany’s beautiful historic towns.
We’ll explore its atmospheric streets and impressive cathedral, discover a remarkable garden and enjoy lunch together before seeking out some of the artisans and makers who continue the region’s creative traditions.
This is the kind of day French Detours loves most: beautiful places, certainly—but also the opportunity to meet people, hear their stories and understand a little more about what makes this corner of France distinctive.

After several days of exploring together, today is yours.
Perhaps you’ll indulge in a treatment or thalassotherapy experience overlooking the sea at Roz Marine, rent an e-bike, browse local boutiques, take a walk along the coast—or simply stay at the Manoir with a book and nowhere you need to be.
Later, we’ll come back together for a wonderfully Breton evening as we roll up our sleeves and learn the art of making traditional crêpes and galettes.
Because sometimes the best souvenir is something you learn to make yourself.
Highlights
• Free Day
• Optional Roz Marine Experience
• Optional E-Bike or Coastal Walk
• Crêpe & Galette Making

This morning we’ll experience one of the rituals of French life I never tire of: market day.
We’ll join the locals at the market in Lannion, where stalls overflow with produce, cheeses, breads, flowers and specialties from the region. After time to explore and shop, we’ll enjoy lunch together.
Then we’ll trade town for coastline and head toward Plougrescant, where the landscape becomes wilder and more dramatic.
We’ll walk along the coast and discover one of Brittany’s most photographed curiosities—a tiny stone house tucked improbably between enormous rocks.
Highlights
• Lannion Market
• Regional Foods & Specialties
• Lunch Together
• Plougrescant
• Wild Coastal Walk
Sept 2027
For our final full day on the Pink Granite Coast, we’ll explore perhaps its most iconic landscape: Ploumanac’h.
We’ll follow the coastal trail as it winds between enormous rose-colored granite formations and the sea, experiencing one of the most beautiful stretches of Brittany on foot.
The remainder of our day will celebrate some of the tastes and traditions of the region, with special experiences still being planned.
That evening, we’ll return to the Manoir for a memorable farewell dinner in the garden, complete with wine, good food and, undoubtedly, stories from our week together.
Highlights
• Ploumanac’h
• Pink Granite Formations
• Coastal Trail
• Breton Tastes & Traditions
• Farewell Dinner at the Manoir
Sept 2027
After one last breakfast at the Manoir, we’ll pack our bags and say au revoir to our home on the Pink Granite Coast.
But our Brittany adventure isn’t quite over.
We’ll make our way to Dinan, a beautifully preserved medieval town of cobbled streets, half-timbered houses, ancient ramparts and artisan shops.
After several hours exploring, we’ll continue toward the sea and Saint-Malo, where we’ll spend our final two nights within the walls of the old city.
As evening approaches, we’ll take our first walk along the famous ramparts and watch the changing light over the sea.

• Medieval Dinan
• Cobbled Streets & Half-Timbered Houses
• Artisan Shops
• Saint-Malo Intra-Muros
• Evening Rampart Walk
Sept 2027
Our final full day takes us into the fascinating history of Saint-Malo.
We’ll spend the morning discovering the stories behind this fiercely independent maritime city—its sailors and explorers, wealthy shipowners and legendary corsairs—while exploring the lanes, cathedral and ramparts of the old city.
The afternoon is deliberately yours.
Shop. Walk the beach. Find a café. Continue exploring. Or simply sit somewhere wonderful and watch Saint-Malo go by.
That evening, we’ll gather one last time for a special farewell dinner and toast our journey through Brittany.

• Historic Saint-Malo
• Corsair History
• Cathedral & Ramparts
• Free Afternoon

After breakfast, our journey comes to an end.
We’ll make our way toward Rennes, where guests can connect by train with Paris or continue their travels elsewhere in France.
We may leave Brittany behind.
But hopefully, Brittany won’t entirely leave us.

Manoir des Petites Bretonnes
For seven nights, we’ll do something increasingly rare on a European tour:
We’ll unpack.
Instead of moving from hotel to hotel, we’ll make our home at the intimate on Brittany’s Pink Granite Coast.
Our group will occupy five of the Manoir’s charming individual gîtes, giving us private spaces of our own while allowing us to gather together in the garden and shared spaces.
And each morning begins with one of the little rituals I love most here: Valérie’s beautiful breakfast baskets, filled with everything we need to begin another day in Brittany.
We aren’t simply staying near the Pink Granite Coast.
For one wonderful week, we get to live there.
With a maximum of just 5–7 guests, this journey will feel less like a tour and more like traveling through Brittany with a small group of friends.
We’ll travel together in our own vehicle. A local Breton guide will join us for many of our days. We’ll walk, picnic, visit markets, meet artisans and share meals.
And because we’re so small, we can preserve something that often disappears from group travel:
SPONTANEITY.
If we discover an interesting shop, we can go inside. If lunch lasts longer than expected, that’s okay. If the weather suggests we should change plans, we can.
The itinerary provides the framework.
Brittany gets to provide some of the surprises.
This trip is designed for travelers who are curious, active and comfortable exploring on foot.
Several days include coastal hikes and extended walking. Brittany’s trails can include rocks, hills, uneven surfaces and changing weather, and our towns and villages often include cobblestones and slopes.
You don’t need to be an athlete.
But you should enjoy walking and being outdoors and be comfortable spending several hours at a time on your feet.
You should also enjoy a trip that occasionally leaves room for the unexpected.
If your favorite travel memories involve a beautiful view after a long walk, discovering a tiny shop you hadn’t planned to visit, talking with an artisan, lingering over lunch or sharing wine around a table at the end of the day…
You’ll probably feel right at home!
