Vive les Vacances d'Août!

Parisians love their City of Lights - but not during the month of August, when the call of the beach lures them to the far corners of the Hexagone. If you are a tourist arriving in Paris, you may find it a bit of a ghost town! (Which also has its advantages!)

Unthinkable to our American work ethic of more-more-more, entire businesses close down, allowing employees to refill their cups, enjoying leisure time with family and friends on sun-drenched beaches.

I absolutely love this cultural value. Whether you can afford a luxury stay at a posh resort on the Riviera, or simply a tent in a campground on a small, unknown plot of sand, the idea that you get away and spend quality time with your loved ones is what is important. The work-play balance is something I could improve, and I aspire to be more French in this respect!

As you may be preparing to travel, or simply enjoying the last long days of summer with your family, I offer you a short, easy-breezy Newsletter this month.

Do you dream of spending more time in Paris?

Feel-Good Summer Films!

After long, sun-filled days spent outdoors, I often like to wind down with a feel-good movie before bed. But with fall travel just around the corner, I also like to watch French films to improve my French! Two birds - one stone ... I choose a lovely movie on the France Channel!

For me, summer is not about "heavy", serious plots ... no murders ... nothing depressing, oh, and I don't want to spend 30-minutes scrolling to find a film! So here are two that made for perfect summer evenings for me! Enjoy!

Before we go .... tomatoes and peaches are at the height of flavor, so why not make this impressive caprese salad for your guests (or just yourself)? Layer the freshest peaches, tomatoes and mozzarella you can find, adding basil leaves from your potager. Drizzle with aged Balsamic and Moulin Castelas Basil-Mint Olive Oil. August's bounty on a plate!
